With Post Show Discussion of ZORA NEALE HURSTON’S Life And Works
SWEAT & THE GILDED SIX BITS will be presented at a special start time of 7:00pm, followed by a post show discussion of Hurston’s life and works moderated by Shawn Anthony Christian , Associate professor of African American studies and English at Wheaton College and author of the book A New Negro Reader and numerous related articles.

Shawn Anthony Christian is Associate Professor of English and African American studies at Wheaton College in Norton MA. He is author of The Harlem Renaissance and the Idea of a New Negro Reader and has published articles on the Harlem Renaissance, the literature of the long civil rights movement, and African American print culture. A former actor (and occasional director), Shawn has performed in a production of James Baldwin’s The Amen Corner, co-directed a production of Ntozake Shange’s for colored girls, and has served as a “post-play” panelist for Trinity Repertory Company in Providence.
